Sardar Abdul Rehman Khetran gets bail in Barkhan triple murder case

A session court in Quetta on Friday granted bail to Balochistan Minister for Construction and Communications Sardar Abdul Rehman Khetran in the Barkhan killings case.He was a suspect in the case registered over the brutal murder of three people whose bullet-riddled bodies were found in a well in Haji Kot area of Barkhan in February.

Khetran made a victory sign before being produced at the court. Session Judge Malik Sujhao Din heard today’s case and approved Khetran’s bail on surety bonds of Rs1 million citing “lack of evidence”.

Earlier in Barkhan Killings

In February’s last week Khan Muhammad Marri and hundreds of Marri tribesmen staged a sit-in inside the Red Zone of the provincial capital, alongside three bodies recovered from a well in the Barkhan area of Balochistan. Khan Muhammad Marri a resident of Kohlu, claimed that the deceased are his wife(Granaz) and two sons. He then went on the allege: “Five slaves are still in the possession of Sardar Abdul Rehman.”

Subsequently, Granaz was recovered along with her 17-year-old daughter Farzana and son. Two other sons were recovered from Kohlu.

The police identified the two mens dead bodies as sons of Khan Muhammad Marri but the identity of woman’s body from the well of Barkhan is still unknown.

The police surgeon, after the post-mortem examination of the bodies, revealed that the deceased woman was a 17 to 18-year-old. She was raped and tortured before being shot dead. The woman’s face was horribly distorted by pouring acid on it.

Khetran Family

Sardar Abdul Rehman Khetran termed the Barkhan killings a conspiracy and an attempt to defame and remove him as the tribal head of the Khetran tribe. He accused his own son Inam Shah for the alleged conspiracy against him. However, Sardar Inam Shah Khetran denied his father’s allegations and confirmed that the three people whose bodies were recovered from the well had been kept in his father’s “private jail”.
