05 December, 2023 21:30

At least six people, including four children were injured in an explosion at Peshawar’s Warsak road early on Tuesday, hospital and rescue officials said.

Emergency services spokesperson said an improvised explosive device (IED) went off on a busy road in Peshawar at 9:10 a.m. He said five people, including four children, were injured. The condition of the five injured was said to be stable, however one child is in a critical condition.

The police official said four kilogrammes of explosives were used in the IED, disguised as a “cemented block”.The incident took place near Peshawar Public School.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack. Peshawar’s police said it is premature that the school children were the target of the attack.

Pakistan has witnessed an uptick in terror activities in recent months, especially in KP and Balochistan, after the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan ended its ceasefire with the government in November last year.
