As per official figures, the death toll now stands at 1,621.

As many as 78 deaths reported during the last twenty-four hours.

Meanwhile, confirmed coronavirus cases in Pakistan soared to 76,398

The emergence of 3,938 new infections over the last twenty-four hours has taken the nationwide tally of coronavirus to 76,398.

27,850 cases detected in Punjab so far, 29,647 in Sindh, 10,485 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 4,514 in Balochistan, 2,893 in Islamabad, 738 in Gilgit-Baltistan, and 271 in Azad Kashmir.

Meanwhile, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Political Communication Dr. Shahbaz Gill has urged the opposition parties to take unified stance to successfully fight against the coronavirus outbreak.

While talking to a private news channel, he said the opposition should not do politics on COVID-19 to divert attentions from their corruption cases.

In this regard, he further suggested the government and opposition should play role jointly.

He said Prime Minister Imran Khan is reviewing the prevailing situation of virus regularly.

Gill noted PM was evolving strategies to cope with the deadly virus regularly.

Moreover, he alerted that majority of people in Pakistan could be affected from coronavirus during the ongoing month of June.

Incumbent govt is urging people to act upon SOPs regarding the pandemic strictly; otherwise, the virus could infect them.
